In addition to sharing incident-based information, reports will also be published to the I-3 Exchange® repository and are available for online recall by any of the participating agencies across Essex County. Key reports, including Incident, Arrest, Supplemental, and Field Interview reports, will now be standardized across all agencies in the County.
The transition from the manual paper process, currently in use, to this new enhanced method will have far-reaching effects. The ability to recall case reports online will significantly improve the Central Judiciary Process (e.g., arraignments) and is expected to result in a decrease in crime and an increase in efficiency. Additionally, local police will now have more information available online from agencies across the County to support investigations and other information needs. The Prisoner Intake process at the County Correctional Facility will also be positively impacted, as the system will provide advanced information on intake volumes and sources, as well as automate a portion of the intake reporting needs.
